Athamanika Mountains (Tzoumerka)
The 1st TZOUMERKA SKI AND CLIMB FESTIVAL was held in Tzoumerka on 18-19-20 MARCH 2016.
Tzoumerka is a mountainous region in Epirus of great beauty with perfect winter conditions for ski mountaineering and ice climbing which are rare for the Greek mountains.
More than sixty participants took part to the festival and had the opportunity to repeat ice – climbing routes and create new lines on the icy fields of Tzoumerka or to go skiing on easy or difficult slopes of Tzoumerka.
The weather was perfect and everyone enjoyed the conditions.
Furthermore, everybody had the chance to exchange points of view, experiences and photographs of the activities of each day and watch interesting videos.
On Saturday afternoon the majority of the participants took part in a fun race with axes on the indoor climbing wall in the Sports and Recreation Center Tzoumerka Activities Center (T.A.C.).
